Meet Dr. Michelle Bouton DACM

It has been a joy to serve in the East Tennessee community for over 25 years. My work has evolved through many chapters- from massage therapy and herbal medicine to my private acupuncture clinic, Erwin Acupuncture.

In 2014, I founded Appalachian Acupuncture in Johnson City as a group clinic. Today, I practice exclusively in my private office in Erwin, Tennessee, where I offer highly personalized, one-on-one care.

I encourage patients to share their full health story so we can create thoughtful, realistic treatment plans and goals together. Patients have described my style of care as "relaxed, yet action-oriented,' a balance of deep listening and practical next steps.

​My approach blends acupuncture, herbal medicine, lifestyle support, and clinical reasoning. I value integrative care and often encourage patients to use both Eastern and Western medicine when appropriate, working toward overall wellbeing.

One of the highest goals of my work is when a patient returns and says, "I feel more like myself again." There is no single pill or quick fix for that- it's something we work toward together by listening closely to the body and responding to what it truly needs.
