Acupuncture Support for Neuropathy & Circulation

Neuropathy can feel different from person to person. You may notice numbness, tingling, burning, pins and needles, unusual sensitivity, or areas that simply don’t feel quite the way they used to.

For some people, symptoms develop gradually. For others, they begin after chemotherapy, surgery, an injury, or another change in health.

And nerve and circulation symptoms don’t always exist in isolation.

Cold hands or feet, swelling, changes in skin temperature or color, muscle tightness, scar tissue, or altered sensation around a surgical area may all be part of the larger picture.

When we work together, I want to understand where your symptoms are, what they feel like, when they began, and what seems to make them better or worse. I also look at the larger picture—your health history, medications, previous injuries or surgeries, sleep, activity, and other symptoms that may be relevant.

My goal is to understand your particular pattern and provide individualized acupuncture care that supports comfort, function, circulation, and quality of life.

Different Causes, Different Patterns

Neuropathy isn't one single condition,

and nerve symptoms can develop for very different reasons:

  • PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY
Numbness, tingling, burning, sensitivity or altered sensation, often affecting the feet, legs, hands or arms.

  • CHEMOTHERAPY-INDUCED NEUROPATHY
Nerve symptoms may begin during or after chemotherapy and sometimes persist for years after treatment has ended.

  • POST-SURGICAL NERVE & TISSUE CHANGES
Numbness, hypersensitivity, nerve irritation, scar tissue, swelling or restricted movement may remain around a surgical area.

  • INJURY & NERVE COMPRESSION
Previous injuries, repetitive strain or irritation around a nerve can contribute to pain, tingling, numbness or weakness.

  • COLD HANDS & FEET / POOR CIRCULATION
Temperature changes, swelling, heaviness or slow recovery in the extremities can sometimes occur alongside nerve symptoms.

What Does Progress Feel Like?

With neuropathy, improvement isn't always an all-or-nothing change. Sometimes the first signs are small—but meaningful.

  • MORE SENSATION & A STEADIER STEP
You notice the fuzziness of your house shoes again. You can feel the transition strip between rooms. You feel more sure of where your feet are—and may find yourself stumbling less.

  • LESS BURNING & TINGLING
When your feet aren't burning against the sheets or constantly buzzing and tingling, it may be easier to stay asleep, or simply relax at the end of the day.

  • BETTER USE OF YOUR HANDS
Buttons are easier. Everyday tasks require less concentration. Picking up your coffee cup causes less worry about dropping it.

  • WARMER, MORE COMFORTABLE HANDS & FEET
Instead of constantly feeling icy or difficult to warm, your hands or feet may begin to feel more normally warm and comfortable.

  • MORE CONFIDENCE IN EVERYDAY LIFE
You aren't second guessing yourself about whether your feet will cooperate. You don't automatically turn down an outing because the terrain might be tricky. You spend less time calculating what symptoms will allow you to do.

"I was not able to control my balance and had heavy numbness in my extremities. I was battling this issue with no answers of a diagnosis, so I was referred to Michelle by a friend.

I didn't really know what to expect for my first appointment. She explains everything thoroughly and makes you feel comfortable. She takes time to discuss your symptoms and makes a plan for treatment.

After my first appointment, I was able to feel a difference.

By my third appointment I could feel a major difference.

I am forever thankful for the kindness and care of Dr. Bouton."
